our seasons
East Metro Wave specializes in customizing seasons to fit the needs of our families. We want to make our AAU basketball family work for you and your family. If you have a group of kids who want to play, but need a special schedule, contact us! Let us know what you need, and we will do our best to make a season work for you.

We have both a Girls program and a Boys program. Our Girls tryouts are in August each year for the following Spring Season. We run tryouts for our boy's teams immediately before Spring Season in late February and early March.

Fall Season
Fall Season is shorter and lower-pressure. We don't conduct tryouts for Fall Season. We fill teams based on interest and for this reason may not have a team at every grade level.
​
The focus of fall season is skill building. The majority of practice will be spent on individual skills.
​
A typical season runs approximately from early September through mid-October. Teams practice twice a week and play in 3 tournaments.

Spring Season - 6th - 11th Traveling
Our Traveling spring season runs from early April through mid-June. Teams practice twice a week and play in 6-7 tournaments. One of the tournaments is out of town but a driving distance away, like Duluth.
Each player receives a gear pack. The gear pack changes every year but includes things like a shooting shirt, t-shirt, and shorts.

Spring Season - 4th & 5th grades
We keep the season a little shorter for our younger kids. We want to build a solid foundation of skills and a love for the game without risking burnout.

The 4th & 5th grade season runs from early April through late May. Teams practice twice a week and play in 4-5 tournaments. Each player receives a gear pack. The gear pack changes every year but includes things like a shooting shirt, t-shirt, and shorts.

Spring Season - 6th - 11th Elite
Our Elite spring season runs from early April through late June. Teams practice twice a week and play in 7-9 tournaments. One of the tournaments is out of town, but a driving distance away, like Duluth. We also play in 1-2 Prep Hoops tournaments.
Each player receives a gear pack. The gear pack changes every year but includes things like a shooting shirt, t-shirt, and shorts.
