TOURNAMENT RULES

The National Federation of High School Basketball Rule Book will be followed with the following changes:  

​

  1. Each team will provide one person to run the clock/scoresheet. 

  2. Home team is the top team in the bracket or on the left side of pool play. Home teams will wear dark uniforms. Away teams will wear light uniforms. 

  3. 4th-5th Grade–20 minute running halves. The clock will stop the last 2 minutes of each half 

  4. 6th-8th grade games will be 14 minute halves. 

  5. 9th-11th grade games will be 16 minute halves. 

    • The clock will run in the last 8 minutes of the 2nd half if a team is up by 20 points or more. The clock will stop if the lead is cut  to 10 points or less. 

  6. No pressing with a 20 point lead.

  7. A player gets 5 fouls before being disqualified.

  8. The first overtime will be 1 minute stop time. The 2nd overtime will be the first team to score 2 points.   

  9. 2 - 30 second timeouts and 1 full timeout per game. Each team receives one additional 30 second timeout in the first overtime only. No additional timeouts after the first overtime. Teams are NOT allowed to carry over timeouts from regulation to overtime

  10. 1 and 1 will be shot on the 7th-9th team fouls and 2 shots will be award on the 10th and beyond. Free throws will be played from the release.

  11. 4th graders may shoot FTs from 12 feet. 

  12. Defense and Pressing Restrictions:  

  13. Help side defense is not considered zone defense

  • Grade 4: 

    • Half Court Defenses - Person to Person Only

    • Full-Court Defenses - Person to Person in the final minute of the second half

  • Grade 5: 

    • Half Court Defenses - Person to Person Only

    • Full-Court Defenses - Person to Person Only - No double teaming or trapping

  • Grades 6-11: 

    • Half Court Defenses - No Restrictions

    • Full-Court Defenses - No Restrictions

  1. If any player, coach, fan is ejected, you must sit out the next game. 

  2. All technical fouls will award the opposing team 2 points and possession of the ball. 

  3. Players are not allowed to play in the same age division and level on two different teams. Players may play above their grade but cannot play down a grade.

  4.  Teams must have 5 players ready to play at their scheduled game time. There will be a 5 minute grace period, if they do not have the 5 players ready to play, a forfeit will be awarded to the opposing team. 

  5. All 4th grade teams will use a 27.5 ball. 5th-6th grade boys will use a 28.5 ball. 7th-11th grade boys will use a 29.5 ball. 

  6. Tiebreakers involving two or more teams will be as follows:

    1. head to head

    2. point differential

    3. points allowed

    4. coin flip.

    5. In a three way tie, point differential will be used to separate the three teams. Forfeits will be scored 15-0. The max point differential will be 15.
